When we get diagnosed with breast cancer, our doctors and their medical teams are busy caring for us and other patients with the best available treatments . If you decide not to have reconstructive surgery you have options that will provide you with breast prostheses & mastectomy bras for your post-operative mastectomy/lumpectomy needs to create symmetry and elevate your lifestyle. Most are covered by your insurance, ask your doctor for a prescription.
You will be given a post-op camisole before your surgery or upon leaving the hospital. The camisole will include drain pouches and soft forms that can be put into the camisole breast area on one or both sides.
If you need radiation after surgery, you must wait until after your treatments to receive a prescription for a breast prosthesis. Your doctor will most likely determine when your skin is healed enough to be fitted for a breast prothesis and bra.
If you don’t need radiation or had radiation prior to your surgery, your doctor can send a prescription to us once you are 4-6 weeks past your surgery (post-op). It could be longer, depending on what they feel is right for your healing plan.
After you are referred and issued a prescription from your doctor, you will call us or we may contact you to schedule a personalized fitting with the best options available for you.
You MUST have a prescription from your doctor if you would like the prothesis and bras to be billed to your medical insurance.
